Well, it is a new year. A new decade even! We survived the Holidays, and we are back to our regular routines! But, with the craziness of the Holidays being done, and the craziness of the New Year, it is easy to feel lost being in the middle of it all.
Usually around this time of year, I don't feel like my usual self. I feel sad even. With this time of year, it's normal to feel this way. But that doesn't mean it doesn't completely suck feeling this way. So if you are like me, and you are stuck in this feeling, here are some tips I came up with that have been helping me. I hope they help you too!
Check up on yourself.
Look in the mirror and ask yourself, "How am I doing?" Don't lie. Be honest. If you are struggling with things, admit it to yourself. Coming to terms with the fact that you are not as happy as you could be is a very important step to helping yourself.
I know I have mentioned this before in a blog post, but deleting people in life and on social media can help a lot. If they are toxic, or do not make you happy, then they are not benefitting you in anyway. It may be hard at first, but when you are in this feeling of feeling lost and not yourself, then toxic people will not help at all.
Meditating is actually one of my favorite hobbies. It is so nice to sit, breathe, and try to relax after a hard day. I personally like to meditate at night, but any time of day that helps you is perfect! I find most of my meditation ideas via Pinterest. There are also amazing meditation apps out there, such as "Slumber" or "Headspace" Even meditating for ten minutes could make a huge difference!
Drink your water and get out in the sun.
These seem so simple, yet they can be so powerful. The sunlight will boost your mood. Even if it just reminds you how beautiful it is outside, it will help! Drinking water will also of course help your health, when I have bad anxiety headaches water always helps calm me down.
Remember you are in control.
This may be hard to remember, but no one can control your feelings except you. Although depression and anxiety may be kicking you rbutt, you have to remember, you are in control. you can fight this. You got this. You may be stronger than you believe.
Alright well it isn't that many tips, but it's what I use in times of feeling lost or hopeless. I love you all a lot! Thank you for reading.
Staying mentally healthy can be so hard with all that is happening during the Holiday season.
Happy Holidays. What is not to love about the Holidays? Crowded stores, guests coming over, visiting family, prepping your Christmas gifts. Okay wait, maybe the Holidays are a lot more stressful than they seem! If you are like me, the stress of the Holidays hit you like a ton of bricks. You feel as if you are scrambling, and even though you have the Christmas spirit, you feel as if your mental health is drowning. Here are some of my personal tips on how to handle the Holiday stress, and stay mentally healthy all season long.
DO NOT COMPARE YOURSELF
Some people have been preparing for the Holidays since March. Other people are born naturally to have the perfect Christmas decorations, or perfect Christmas cookies. Then there are people who are just trying their best to decorate, shop, and celebrate. Whether you are that person who has been ready since March, or that person who is just getting by, I am proud of you. This is your Holiday! Celebrate anyway you can, don't compare yourself or push yourself too hard, you are right where you need to be.
DECLUTTER AS THE HOLIDAYS GO BY
Everyone knows, when the house gets messy and cluttered, our brains can too. Adding a Christmas tree with presents into that mess can make your head explode. Remember, Santa needs room to get down the chimney and through your house come Christmas eve! Making the house look nicer will help keep you calm during the season.
REMEMBER, YOU ARE NOT SANTA CLAUS.
Do not go into debt this Holiday season. You do not have hundreds of elves working for you. You have bills to pay, and you need to grocery shop. As crazy as deals may be at the mall, do not give in if you do not have the wiggle room to spend that much money. If any one of your loved ones are upset because of the lack of a Christmas gift, they are not worth your time. It is the season of loving and being together, no price tag can be put on that!
SMALL BREAKS ARE ESSENTIAL
Please do not abandon your daily routines throughout the season. My night time routine consists of self care and me time. Even though it is only about 30 minutes long, it's time to breathe and focus on me. Small breaks and self care are always important, but during this stressful season, they are about 10x more important! So do not forget to take a break from wrapping paper this season and give yourself some care.
Let's stay thankful this Holiday season.
This decade is almost over, have you guys seen the "decade challenge" on social media? People upload a photo of them 10 years ago and then a photo now. If you compare your photos, the first thing people usually notice is their looks. I've seen "Thank goodness for puberty" or "I look so different" I noticed that too, I mean 10 years ago I was nine! I was having elementary school problems, I was also coming home everyday to my parents, having food made and paid for me and I was living there completely rent free. Makes me MISS my nine year old life- haha. But then I look at my life now and, wow! I am starting school next year, I have my apartment, a full time job, a gorgeous dog and so much more. I am proud of myself.
Now my question for all of you, are you proud of YOURSELF? This past decade has been so crazy, technology has soared, with social media tailing along behind it. So many new discoveries, this life is so different now. Growing up around the world changing so fast is so crazy. And yet here you are doing what you are doing.
So BE proud of yourself. This world can also be cruel, people can say being proud of yourself can be selfish. But that is never true, being proud of yourself is amazing. As this Holiday season approaches, people are jolly, they serve people, and are thankful for people! So this Holiday, serve others, be jolly, be thankful, and be thankful for yourself! You have accomplished all of your past challenges, you made it this far in your wonderful life, be proud of yourself and thankful for what you are capable of doing in your life. And as the new year approaches, come up with goals to be the best you you can possibly be this next decade!
This may sound cheesy to some people, but to the people who may have needed to hear this, I am so grateful you are here! Thank you guys for reading, please do not forget to give this a like and follow me (m.mindaay) on Instagram.

My website and Instagram is two years old!
Two years ago I was in a really dark place. I was sad all of the time, things never seemed to look up for me, and overall I was bored! I needed a hobby, something to look forward to. I knew I wanted to write, I also knew I had a passion for working via social media. And that is how my site and Instagram was born!
Whether you are a follower, a friend, a reader, a company, ANYTHING like that, I want to thank you all. Without everyone's support, I would not be doing what I love to do. Everyday is such an adventure with what I want to write, post, the meetups I go to. And so much more. I have had chance to meet and work with amazing people and companies. My heart is so full!
I cannot wait to see where else this journey is going to take me. Starting this as a 26 year old girl to now an 18 year old young women, everyday there is something new and exciting! This hobby has forever helped my depression and anxiety and I could not be happier or more thankful!
This was a short blog post, but life has been busy. To makeup for the slacker-ness, and to celebrate, I am giving away two of my favorite things! Check out my recent post when you can!
