A post about my personal growth with this site over this past year, and why you should follow YOUR dream.
MY BABY IS ONE!
Happy Birthday to this blog, I cannot believe she is one year old. But because it has been a year, I decided to share a little bit about how and why I started this blog, and how it has affected my personal growth.
A little over a year ago, I was sixteen, writing was a hobby of mine but never a passion. I always thought about starting a blog, but never got the courage to do so. But, hard times hit me and seasonal depression approached. These sad times brought me to doing fun things on social media, like finding fun things to write about on Pinterest, or looking at photoshoots, I always thought photoshoots would be fun. The more and more I wrote my own mini "articles" the more and more I had the idea to start a blog, and finally I decided to start one. I have tried starting a blog before, I actually started one once back in the early summer of that year called "Throughly Modern Mindy". But it didn't feel right, so after a week or two I deleted it all. I was very cautious starting this page because I wanted it to feel completely right.
Around the end of September of last year I slowly started building my page. It took almost a month to push the publish button. My very first post was about going on Fall dates for the season (Which is weird because I've only been on like two fall dates). I pushed publish and I instantly got butterflies. I went to my Instagram to share it, but I was so nervous because I had about 900 high school kids following me. "What would they think? Would they judge me? Would they laugh? They probably wont even read it." Those thoughts circled my mind as I pushed my share button on my post, but even though I had doubts, I still pushed the button.
Soon enough, after a few blog posts and Instagram posts, I started to get attention. I felt like I needed pictures of me, so I had my nine year old brother take some photos of me for my site. (He still does that sometimes to this day) 100 views on my page a week, turned to 1k a week. 900 followers, turned to 3k followers. My writing hobby, is now a passion. My dreams of photoshoots are real, I have them a few times a month. My blog, added so many things. I now do tons of things on social media, collaborate with beautiful people, make bracelets, take photos, meet new people, go to conferences, and SO much more. I cannot even begin to express how many amazing opportunities starting this site has brought me.
My point of this post is, GUYS, FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS. I was so, so scared to start my blog. I finally started my blog to get my mind off of the world for a little. But now, it is truly just a huge part of me that I love. And I am not sure where I would be without this blog. If you guys are contemplating doing something in your life, please, take it from me and follow those dreams. You NEVER know where it would take you. I love my path, and I cannot wait to see where I will be next year.
