Simple steps to start a great day.
Waking up in the morning is probably the hardest thing for me. I sleep through my alarm, I hit the snooze button over and over. Although I am excited for a new day, I have a hard time waking up to get there. To get my morning motivation going, I set goals and make a morning routine to get ready for my day, these small steps actually put me in a happy mind set, and makes me ready to conquer the day with anything it might throw at me. Here are habits you should add to your morning routine to have a happier day.
Now a lot of people wake up in the morning and do yoga, go on a run, meditate, etc. But if you are like me, it is so hard to get out of bed, let alone do those amazing things. I applaud anyone who can do that every morning. Doing simple stretches in the morning is how I wake up my body. Doing light exercise in the morning can actually help boost your metabolism for the rest of the day. Therefore, my stretches contain laying in bed and stretching first. Then once I finally get out of bed, I touch my toes, stretch my arms, and continue to do simple stretches like that to wake my body up.
Start With Water
People with always joke and say that water will cure everything. Although that is not the case, when I wake up and get ready the first thing I do is fill up my water bottle. Nothing feels quite as good as cold water on your dry mouth in the morning. A drink of water in the morning helps activate your metabolism and helps wake up your organs as well. It is a nice healthy wake up call to your body!
Make Your Bed
I am awful at making my bed in the morning. But on mornings when I am having a hard time finding motivation, doing something as small and simple as making my bed really helps me feel productive. Not to mention it is so much harder to crawl back into your bed after you have made it.
Wash That Face
Boys, girls, no matter what age you are or how you feel about skin care, you need to wash your face in the morning. In my opinion, washing your face in the morning just helps you feel simply refreshed. Washing my face in the morning also helps me wake up a lot. Not to mention it just feels wonderful.
I am awful at eating breakfast. I always forget. My favorite last thing to make are simple healthy smoothies. I will be releasing recipes soon. But eating something simple like a couple of strawberries will help your body a lot. It is a good habit to get into anyway!
Make a "To-Do" List
While you are getting ready for your day, write down in your journal, or type on your phone a daily to-do list. And if you have nothing special or important to do that day, try something new that you usually do not do. For example, go on a jog after work, go to the book store and pick out a new read. It is as simple as that to make you feel productive and simply happy.
