A rant to educate everyone.
Hey guys, as usual welcome to my blog and thank you for clicking on todays post. Today in my blog post, it will seem like I am ranting, fair warning now. Today I will be talking about a word I hate a lot, and explaining why I hate it, and teaching everyone reading how you can use the word in the right way.
So, the word that I hate a lot starts with an R, and if you haven't guessed it already. It is the word retarded. Let me share with you the definition of retarded: Retarded, less advanced in mental, physical, or social development than is usual for one's age. Therefore most people with special needs are either mentally or physically retarded. And that is medically speaking.
WHY I HATE THAT WORD
Besides hearing the word from a doctor, I have never heard anyone use the word correctly. Usually they use it in a VERY rude way. If you do something wrong, or different, someone may call you retarded. If you make a mistake, someone will call you retarded. Although, thankfully, it is not as common as it used to be, I still hear it today. And I always hear the word being used as an insult. Most of you know my brother Brandon has special needs, medically speaking he has health and growth retardation. People take something that my brother has and uses it as an insult. Not only is that offensive, it is extremely disrespectful. Not just to my brother and I, it is disrespectful to the whole special education program and their families.
I am so sorry if I am seeming like a very easily offended girl, but this is probably the one word I cannot stand. This word is ugly, hateful, and just plain disgusting. Out of all of the disgusting words we have in this world, can we take one word out of our vocabulary? It may not be offensive to you, but it is to hundreds, if not thousands of people. I am so sorry that this is a serious blog post, but it had to be said.
Have an amazing week everyone! Thank you all so much for reading.
