Yet another school shooting.
I am so sorry Santa Fe High School, March 18th was another Friday. Everyone loves Fridays, it is the start to the weekend. Plus we are approaching another close to a school year, to me the end of the school year is like the end of a chapter in my life. And every first day of school I am so excited to start a new one. At the end of the year, the stress of the school year starts to die down and we do fun things, especially in high school. Such as prom, end of year dances, summer parties, graduation, and so much more. But, that was taken away from eight students when some insane person yelled "Surprise" and started shooting your classmates. The end of the year excitement is ripped away, because eight students are dead, two teachers are dead, and thirteen others are injured.
I am not just sorry for Santa Fe, I am so sorry for all twenty two schools that have had a problem with shootings, threats from a gun or anything else. I am so sorry to every mother that kissed their child goodbye for school, but it ended up being goodbye for good.
I apologize because I wish it was different, I wish the crazy person didn't hurt anyone. Although I am only sixteen years old, I try the small things to make my voice heard so people know that this isn't okay, and we are trying to do things to prevent it. Thats why on the 18th, I got the chance to lay down for 22 minutes, to show respect and love to all twenty two schools. I'm also trying to show my government that I am a student, and I am worried about my safety going to school.
Every child should get the chance to go to prom, and graduate, and do all of the fun high school activities. They should also get their education from their teachers. Their educators should not be worried about having to defend their students from any harm. The educators shouldn't worry about being murdered by going to work.
All twenty two schools, students, educators, you are in my heart, and I hope we come up with a solution, because I am so sick of this. Thank you for all reading.
